Abler Nordic was founded in 2008 as a public—private partnership to provide financial services to millions of low-income households in developing countries who have historically been excluded from the formal banking system.
The company invests in and builds up financial institutions across Sub-Saharan Africa and Asia, delivering relevant, responsible, and affordable services to nearly eight million people today. It currently manages six funds with total committed capital of USD 470 million.
After more than a decade of leadership, Abler Nordic's CEO is stepping down, creating an exciting opportunity to shape the next chapter. The company is seeking a new CEO with relevant investment experience, who will strengthen and further develop Abler Nordic's position and ambition of achieving measurable social impact and attractive financial return.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and collaborate with the board and executive management team on strategic decisions and long-term growth initiatives
- Managed and motivated an international organization with large geographical and cultural differences.
- Drive the development of investment processes and cultivate the appropriate risk-taking culture.
- Ensure value creation through active ownership and effective portfolio management
- Represent Abler Nordic to stakeholders, investors, and the wider market, ensuring a strong and positive presence
- Build and maintain relationships with a relevant Nordic fundraising network to attract strategic investors
Competencias y experiencia
- Strong leadership skills and experience in scaling and developing organizations
- Proven track record of investing in private assets
- Active ownership experience, preferably from board participation
- International experience, preferably from emerging markets
- Experience of assessing the overall impact of an investment
- Nordic fundraising network — to attract relevant Nordic investors
- Experience from organizations with a clear regulatory framework
