Are you our next Group Business Controllers?

On Behalf of Melby Group we are seeking two proactive and result-driven Group Business Controllers to join the finance team. Melbye Group is a family-owned leader in critical sustainable infrastructure solutions for the energy, telecom, and installation sectors, operating across the Nordics and UK. The company is expecting strong growth, and the finance function plays a central role in this development, both in terms of capturing new market positions, organic growth, and through acquisitions. You will have office space at our Group Office in Skedsmokorset, Norway.

As a Group Business Controller, you will drive financial performance across business areas, supporting budgets, forecasts, and KPIs while challenging business unit results. You’ll work closely with management, sales, and operations across the Nordics, UK, and other global locations, preparing data-driven cases, delivering insights, and identifying growth opportunities, including M&A evaluations.

Available positions:

1. Group Business Controller – Project Sales and Group

We seek candidates with experience in analytical and strategic business controller roles, particularly in group reporting within international settings. A background from a Big 4 firm and/or a similar role in sectors like Energy & Renewables, Industry & Infrastructure, Transport, or Telecom is highly valued.

  • Business Controlling of our project sales and deliveries divisions

  • Risk controlling and delivery follow-up of larger projects key

  • Function as support in value driven price setting

  • Group Consolidation Responsible and Group function controlling. Cooperate with our accounting service partner to report financial performance 

2. Group Business Controller – Wholesale Sales and Costs

We seek a candidate with a background in business controlling within industrial sales, ideally from an industrial wholesaler, reseller, or retail environment, with experience in margin, COGS, and OPEX control. Experience from a Big 4 firm and/or in similar roles in Energy & Renewables, Industry & Infrastructure, Transport, or Telecom is advantageous.

  • Business Controlling of our running wholesale sales division, both digital sales as well as running orders and projects

  • Business controlling within operations and group functions

  • Function as support in yearly frame agreement negotiations with wholesalers related to price, margins and other business conditions


For both positions responsibilities will be

  • Performance driven follow-up and proactive push and support for our Business Areas, Operations and per market

  • Strong contributor to set forecast, budget and KPI ambitions as well as follow-up on development actions and risks for business and group units

  • Develop data- and market-driven business cases, providing decision-ready materials on group-specific topics while ensuring organizational alignment and collaboration across key stakeholders

  • “Superuser” and development of main KPI reports within Power BI in close cooperations with business areas and key functions

  • Drive business development and M&A activities, including valuation, due diligence, integration of acquired companies, and identification of new M&A candidates to support growth in prioritized markets

  • Proactive in setting and driving development also beyond own responsibilities

 

Qualifications and personal skills

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Management or Finance

  • 3-5+ years of relevant finance or business management experience

  • Expertise in financial modeling, reporting, and business case analysis

  • Experience in M&A, valuation, and pricing strategies is an advantage

  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel, Power BI, and ERP systems (MS Dynamics), capable of presenting data insights through reports and dashboards

  • Excellent communication skills in Norwegian/Swedish and English, both verbal and written

  • Results-driven, highly professional, and dedicated with a strong analytical and business-oriented mindset

  • Solution-focused with a proactive "DOer" mentality

  • Initiate and lead cross-divisional analysis and follow-ups, ensuring progress through effective timeline and task management

  • Confident and self-motivated, able to prepare decision-ready material for top management and board committees

  • Curious, humble, and eager to learn and share, with a positive influence on colleagues
